The Future of Business Connectivity
Mercury is an innovative new Ethernet-based business connectivity solution engineered by SystemMetrics Corporation. Mercury’s performance, reliability, and engineering flexibility is unrivaled by any connectivity solution in its class. Mercury offers businesses full duplex 3, 4.5, 7, 9, 18, and 45 Megabit Ethernet service levels. These circuits are fully 802.1q (VLAN Trunk) and 802.1p (QoS) capable. Because Mercury is Ethernet, no router or special network equipment is necessary to interface the corporate LAN.
Mercury allows businesses additional options not available with traditional carrier and ISP offerings. Businesses can use Mercury to aggregate or connect to other technologies such as DSL, Frame Relay, ATM, and SONET, supporting Internet or WAN operations. This cross compatibility with other technologies is virtually non-existent with traditional carrier and ISP offerings.
Mercury’s performance is unrivaled by any current provider offerings. The lowest service level - 3Mbps - exceeds T1 performance by 200% for less than the cost of typical T1 service. SystemMetrics’ most popular Mercury offering - 4.5Mbps - not only exceeds T1 performance by 300%, but also provides built-in line redundancy while still keeping costs below that of a typical T1 offering. All Mercury circuits offer physical line redundancy.
Mercury is engineered and proven to support the most demanding businsess applications. SystemMetrics’ engineers have qualified Mercury for use in a number of solutions such as Virtual Private Network (VPN), VoIP, Data Backup, WAN aggregation, Internet access, and Point of Sale (POS) applications. Mercury was also engineered to support giving priority to one or more of these solutions over a single circuit.
Features & Benefits:
- Available in 3Mbps to 45Mbps service levels
- Full Duplex Capable
- Built in Redundancy with all service levels
- Common Ethernet RJ-45 interface
- Compatible with all Ethernet LAN environments
- No router/CSU/DSU required for Ethernet conversion
- Low latency; typically < 2ms from Customer Premises to SystemMetrics Point-of-Presence (POP)
- Supports VoIP
- May be combined with DSL, Point-to-Point T1, Frame-Relay, ATM, and SONET technologies from Time Warner and Verizon
- No special learning curve is needed to set up Ethernet WAN connections with the service provider
- No special customer equipment or port adapters are required. Customer equipment can be either a router (with an Ethernet interface), an Ethernet switch or bridge, or a host.
- Service prices, in terms of dollars per megabits per second, are quite favorable when compared to the prices for TDM connections.
- Multipoint connectivity is provided by Ethernet, thus alleviating the need to manage multiple point-to-point connections on the customer equipment
